Prison InReach Projects
The Relational Culture Strategies (Leadership) class meets weekly for two hours at CRCI. Students and volunteers interact on a variety of topics geared toward personal and community transformation. These topics include community organizing style leadership training, transformation stories of historic figures, and transformational psychology based on the work of G.I. Gurdjieff and Peter Ouspensky.
-
In the Community
The Tools for Transformation class meets weekly in 12-week cohorts, focusing on techniques to acknowledge, understand and manage the many stresses that are present during a transition out of prison, all while fostering community and connecting participants with lived experience.

Organizing and Advocacy
Leveraging the community organizing principles learned in prison, PHOENIX members engage in actions that benefit both prisoners, parolees, and the community. Together we have supported successful local Ban-the-Box campaigns, a 2013 Oregon sentencing reform bill, a 2017 bill to ease financial burdens for parolees through community service, and Ballot Measure 110 to treat addiction as a health issue in 2020.
