Convict and Ex-Convict
These are the preferred terms that students in our projects have chosen to describe themselves as a group. Using these terms shows respect for their choice. These terms were selected after sharing many stories about identities, labels and their meanings in our classes. We reject terms such as inmate, offender, and ex-offender because these are labels applied by others.
