PHOENIX is a partner in ROAR – Re-entry Organizations and Resources – an affiliation of over 40 organizations and agencies that work with those getting out of prison. A handful of ROAR organizations recently completed a joint pilot project, the Reentry Transition Center (RTC). PHOENIX was a founding partner in this endeavor, receiving United Way funding to launch it. The RTC coordinates services and puts a human face on transition by employing Navigators to tailor community-based services to each parolee. The services available through the RTC include: cognitive behavioral therapy; job readiness and placement; alcohol and drug treatment; access to computers, phones and mail; driver’s license reinstatement; expungements where appropriate; counseling; disability services; mental health services; and of course, mentoring from PHOENIX. All PHOENIX mentees go through the Reentry Transition Center.
